Bali Sehat Hospital – Healthy Days for all

What began in 2011 with a dream and AUD 5,000 in donations has grown into a lifeline for thousands of Balinese families. Ray and Sue Bishop’s vision—to bring accessible health care to underserved communities—has touched more than 100,000 lives and continues to expand.

Rotary Club of Bali Action is proud to support Bali Sehat Hospital, a community-focused institution that has been running “Healthy Days” for many years. Recently, the charity Balidonate joined forces with Bali Sehat and Rotary Club of Bali Action, expanding their reach and impact. Together, these organizations provide vital medical and community support to thousands of residents across remote and regional communities in Bali.

On a typical Community Health Day, up to 1,000 invited residents—including students, the elderly, people with disabilities, and disadvantaged families—attend to receive comprehensive health services. These include general medical checkups, dental and eye care, and targeted health screenings. Beyond medical assistance, attendees are supported with food and care packages containing school supplies, clothing, bedding, and other essentials generously donated from around the world.

Daily at Bali Sehat Hospital, the team continues this mission by:

  • Offering outpatient consultations and routine health checks
  • Providing maternal and child health services
  • Running dental and eye clinics for ongoing care
  • Supporting chronic illness management and preventive health education
  • Coordinating community outreach programs to ensure even the most remote villages have access to healthcare

Through these combined efforts, Bali Sehat Hospital and its partners are not only addressing immediate medical needs but also fostering long term community well being

Today, Bali Sehat Hospital operates a modern, 24‑hour clinic offering emergency care, maternity services, dental and physiotherapy, inpatient treatment, pharmacy support, and ambulance services. In just four years since opening its facility, the clinic has cared for over 60,000 patients, averaging 1,100 visits each month.

But Bali Sehat Hospital is more than a clinic. It is a community hub:

  • Healthy Days held quarterly, providing free checkups and education.
  • English classes for underprivileged children.
  • Nutrition programs with food supplements and guidance.
  • Sustainable initiatives like a catfish farm to provide protein for families.

With 37 dedicated staff and patient numbers growing, the need for support is greater than ever. Every donation helps provide vital equipment, fund community programs, and ensure that no one is turned away from care.

Your generosity can save lives. Join us in making “Healthy Life for All” a reality in Bali. In 2018, inspired by the mission of “Healthy Life for All,” Bali Sehat launched a fundraising campaign to build a modern health facility. Construction began in 2019, and the clinic officially opened in October 2021. Today, Bali Sehat treats over 1,100 patients each month—more than 60,000 patients in just four years. Operating 24 hours a day, the clinic offers emergency care, maternity services, inpatient treatment, physiotherapy, dental care, pharmacy services, and life-saving ambulance support, all equipped with modern medical technology.

Beyond clinical care, Bali Sehat strengthens the community through quarterly Healthy Days, English classes for underprivileged children, nutrition education, and food supplement programs. A catfish farm was also established to provide sustainable protein for local families.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, clubs, and supporters, Bali Sehat has been able to expand its services and impact. However, with patient numbers continuing to grow and a dedicated staff of 37, the need for ongoing support remains vital.

If you would like to contribute to Bali Sehat’s mission, your support will help ensure accessible, compassionate health care for all.
